Essay / Interview Report: Leadership in the Health System
IntroductionLeadership is increasingly important in today's society. Many experts and scholars point out that the current leadership crisis involves moral and character issues among many leaders (Ahn, Ettner, & Loupin, 2012; Callahan, 2004; Wright & Quick, 2011). The following interview report is primarily intended for exploration and comparison of leadership traits and characteristics. A manager of a clinical medicine center was interviewed for this report. The purpose of this report is to explore leadership characters and traits and how they can be developed in this turbulent environment. First, I provide a brief introduction regarding the respondent's background and work environment. The report also describes the personal and subjective perceptions of this leader in relation to a review of the literature that studies leadership traits and characteristics. The report concludes with a comparison and discussion of the clinical condition findings based on the interview and literature review. At the same time, the report aims to provide actionable and effective advice and specific programs for current and future health system leaders and managers.Methodology1. Traits and characteristics of the respondent This is an interview lasting almost 40 minutes. The subject of this interview is the manager of a community medical center. This medical center has five doctors, two nutritionists, an occupational therapist, a nurse and three service desk receptionists. This medical center now serves the community of over five thousand patients.
