Essay / Cultural Advertising and Diversity - 909
There are many different nations in which their citizens have their own language and way of life, but the United States of America is unique because of the diversity of its citizens . And for this reason, America is called a "melting pot" because it has a variety of citizens who are of different ethnic backgrounds and who each have their own culture and their own language, and all of these people live in a one united nation. Coca-Cola created an ad that opens with the first paragraph of the song “America the Beautiful” sung in English. This part of the song is sung in seven different languages throughout the commercial and shows a variety of people representing American citizens. The Coca-Cola advertisement shows the diversity of Americans who have different ethnicities, cultures and religions and how all are connected and unified through Coca-Cola to illustrate the beauty of America. The first paragraph of the song "America the Beautiful" is used to show that Americans are connected even though they come from different backgrounds. The first part of the song itself has an important meaning to people who live in America, as it is something that most Americans learn from a young age in elementary school. Everyone is able to bond over the song because they all know the words to at least part of the song. Having such a special song sung in seven different languages shows that America is truly a melting pot, a united but mixed and diverse country. The lyrics and harmony say that Americans can work together regardless of the differences that exist. The part of the song "America the Beautiful" that was used in the advertisement has a deeper meaning behind it: O be...... middle of paper ...... and in conclusion, this advertisement uses different things: a song, people doing the same thing, the lighting, the emotional connection, and the scenery to demonstrate how truly diverse America is and why it's a good thing to be so diverse. Additionally, this ad was not only able to tell why America is beautiful, but also illustrate to everyone why America is beautiful, which is not an easy task. Coca-Cola has successfully communicated how it can help unite cultures and people by using a connection that everyone can have with its product. Nonetheless, by casting different individuals in a variety of landscapes, the ad was able to suggest that what makes America beautiful is the diversity of its people and landscapes. YouTube.
