ANNEX 011) Company History Sri Lankan Airline was launched in 1979 as Sri Lanka's flagship carrier and is today an award-winning international carrier in passenger air transport in the aeronautics industry. The airline is a private limited company incorporated and domiciled in Sri Lanka, where the Government of Sri Lanka owns 51.06%, the Bank of Ceylon 23.54%, the People's Bank 8.23%, the National Bank of savings 8.23%, Employees Provident Fund 3.62% and others 5.32%. The airline's main activities are to provide scheduled international operations and non-scheduled air services for the transportation of passengers, cargo and mail from its base airport, Bandaranayake International Airport, Katunayake, Sri Lanka .
