I think more information should be gathered from people's experiences of deconversion from mainstream religions simply because of the number of members. Of course, sectarian deconversions are generally more interesting because sects have an occult mystique, but mainstream deconversion is probably much more common and actually more relevant to the general public. I think with these experiences we can learn more about individuals' disillusionment with religion and spirituality. When many people turn away from a sect, they eventually join an established religion, perhaps even an established religion.
