“As for me, all I know is that I know nothing” is a famous quote from Socrates, which describes him very well as the intelligent and humble person that he was. Socrates was born in 469 BC in Athens, Greece. He was well known throughout the world for his dialogues and the work of his disciples and students such as Xenophon and Plato. He laid the foundations of the Socratic method as well as Socratic irony. Although everything we know about him is second-hand and we have none of his philosophical writings, he is still known as one of the most important philosophers who changed the world. Socrates is often considered to have laid the foundations of philosophy in the West. The influence of Socrates' views can be seen during the Renaissance era, where his works were often reflected in paintings and other works of art. He is often represented as a great saint, because of all his exemplary achievements. Philosophy is “the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. Socrates is known as one of the greatest philosophers of all time because he studied knowledge, reality and existence to the point of constructing a famous method used to find the answer to any problem, no matter what. the subject. This famous method is one of his greatest works and is known as the Socratic method. This method involves dividing a problem into a series of questions, therefore the solution is usually found by answering all the sub-questions. He then used this method to examine moral ideas like justice and began to question Athenian politics.
