The aim of the report is to compare two different starters for sludge pumping, namely variable speed and reduced voltage starter, and recommend one based on maintenance costs and efficiency. 2.0 Background The engineering department of KSB company appointed me as project manager and gave me the task of researching how to increase the efficiency of slurry pumping in our company. The objective of this report is to review and select the best starter for slurry pump based on the performance and ability of the starter to save energy during operation.
