How Technology Affects Education Introduction As the Internet and other types of technology begin to advance, schools are trying to find ways to use it in the classroom to have a positive effect on the lives of students, improve the lives of students. collaborate with their peers and improve their technical skills, but is technology a distraction? Technology offers many new ideas and skills that could benefit students later in the future. But are there any downsides to using so much technology in the classroom? Since technology is such an important part of so many people's lives, it is almost necessary to include it in the lives of all students. Recent studies show the benefits and problems of trying to force technology on students. Is technology a distraction? The obvious answer is yes, technology is a huge distraction. Teenagers are heavy users of all types of technology, including cell phones, computers, iPods, etc. There are many different reasons why the use of technology should not be allowed in a classroom, but there are also many different reasons why they should be. One of the biggest problems with using your cell phone/laptop at school is lack of concentration. Bob Sullivan explains in his article that studies show that students who are interrupted by their cell phones perform 20 percent lower on their tests (Sullivan, 18). This is the result of a lack of concentration. These days, if you asked a teenager what was more important: school or their cell phone, most of them would probably say their cell phone. A second study showed that even students who are extremely able to concentrate are unable to do homework continuously for two minutes or more without being distracted by their phones (Sullivan, 18). ....technology.
