The objective of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics and history regarding the divers subculture. Divers can explore exciting and breathtaking new ocean regions that many people never have the opportunity to experience in their lives. Divers play an important role in society because of the discoveries they make every day. They provide much-needed and important research for the scientific community regarding newly discovered marine species. Divers have the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean features including shipwrecks, coral reefs and other stunning tropical ocean areas. Many people consider scuba diving an enjoyable leisure activity because it allows them to relax and explore in paradise. Divers have a great time exploring the ocean while making new discoveries, but surprisingly, the history of scuba diving is relatively tiny. The activity of scuba diving has a short history as most of its popularity only dates back to around the 1950s. Although most of the known history of scuba diving dates back about 60 years, it has been around for several decades (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). Many media sources such as magazines, cartoons, and movie publishers began depicting divers as part of a mystical world containing deep-sea creatures and featuring action figures such as Frogman (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). These media sources allowed publishers to begin to publicize this new and exciting activity, which began to pique people's interest. In the late 1950s, these media sources began to present a more realistic portrayal of what divers were actually doing (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). Scuba diving is a recreational activity that the majority of people enjoy and it is an open opportunity for anyone interested to give it a try and see how they like it.
