Late one afternoon, a couple sat quietly on the sofa in their marital home. The woman was an active blogger, so she had her tablet in hand; however, her husband worked during the day in a downtown office, so his hands were virtually empty. She thought: he must really not want me to blog tonight, because he's been poking me for half an hour and telling me to look at him. Sure, he was annoying, but she didn't say that either. The husband, seeing the expression on her face, said he was sorry for having bored her with his friendship; therefore, he fell back on the most ridiculous statement that demanded an "I'm listening" response, instead of just telling her to stop. Would you call this woman’s situation love or tolerance? Tolerance, which keeps a person at a distance to avoid unnecessary hurt, unlike love and affection, which embraces a person in all things, are often confused in this generation. A negative environment led to the adaptation of tolerance. Tolerance concerns man's ability to resist something, whether it is pressure, sadness, pain or pleasure. Everyone has their limits and that is where tolerance comes in. “Love is a strong inclination or embrace of affection towards someone or something” according to (Collins English Dictionary – Complete & Unabridged). “Affection is a feeling of loving and caring for someone or something,” as stated in (Mish, Tolerance) in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Love and affection are unconditioned and uncontrolled feelings coming from deep within, as opposed to tolerance, controlled and conditioned, but not separate from humans who love and show affection because it is of a feeling of what is accepted.
