Essay / Quotes are one of my favorite forms of artistic expression
Quotes are one of my favorite forms of artistic expression. Every culture has its own collection of quotes, wise sayings and proverbs. They offer paraphrased advice on life and also provide some underlying ideas, principles and values of a given society. The mechanism of a quotation is to put two meanings of the sentence in its original usage and in a new context. Quotes are often used for comic or ironic effect. They often become a form of freedom of expression. During the period of censorship, the author uses figurative language to express social or political beliefs, hidden mockery and sometimes to express criticism. Sometimes they inspire me and make me think. A quote from CS Lewis made me question my honesty and moral principles in certain aspects of daily life. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend celebrated his 34th birthday. We went to a very elegant waterfront restaurant “The Water Club” located on the East River. The restaurant is located on a boat, which makes the place very romantic and intimate. We got the table next to the huge window with a beautiful panoramic view of the river. The dining room was open with high ceilings. The lighting was low and pleasant. Maritime decoration and wooden furniture have been put in place to make everyone feel comfortable with space and privacy. We both ordered the captain's special cocktail. The drinks were slightly smooth but very refreshing with a sweet flavor supported by bitter lemon notes; we followed that with crispy shrimp in a spicy Thai sauce as an appetizer and fresh Maine lobster as a main course. The whole experience was a unique and upscale treat and we were expecting a hefty bill. When we received our check, I immediately noticed that it wasn't ours. The total of eighty dollars would cost...... middle of paper ...... and show cracks in our character. The best thing is to never take that first dishonest step. However small and imperceptible the choice may seem at the time, it can open a path that will damage your moral compass and guide you toward greater misdeeds. Building a reputation for integrity takes years, but it only takes a second to lose it. Integrity means doing the right thing at all times and in all situations, whether anyone is watching or not. It takes courage to make the right choice, regardless of the consequences. Being true to yourself, your morals, your beliefs and your values is important from a religious perspective. Integrity is how you decide to live, act and behave even when no one is around to see you. Throughout your life, you will be faced with decisions that only you can make. Only you can decide how to live your life, and the decisions you make define you.
