Essay / Investigation of the habit of snails to touch
Objectives: To study the habit of snails to harmless stimuli. To develop skills in problem solving and experimentation, for example, information is processed and presented accurately, experimental procedures are planned, designed and evaluated correctly, producing valid results, recording the results and a valid conclusion is drawn. To learn the correct way to sting the snail. Problem Statement: When a garden snail is touched, it quickly withdraws its eye stalks into its body. This is a rapid response of the snail to avoid dangers and ensure its survival. Do snails habituate to touch stimulus with repeated stimulation? Summary: The main objective of this experiment is to study the habituation of snails to touch stimulus. The main method used in this experiment is to touch the part of the snail between its eye stalk. The time it takes for the eye stalks to enter and exit the shell is measured using a stopwatch. This step is then repeated until the snail no longer withdraws its eye stalks into the shell. The main result of this experiment is that the time it takes for the snail to enter and exit the shell decreases with each push. Therefore, it must be concluded that a snail can be habituated to a harmless stimulus.Introduction:Snail“Snail is a common name for all members of the mollusk class Gastropods that have coiled shells on their backs in the adult stage . » (Wikipedia, 2010) This includes land snails and snails that live in water. In this experiment we use the common type of land snails, also known as garden snails. Snails are used in this habituation investigation because they are slow moving animals and therefore, making them easier to find...... middle of paper ...... Tables.
