Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger once said: "Strength does not come from victory. Your struggles develop your strength. When you go through trials and decide not to give up, it "is strength." Arnold means that you shouldn't expect that what you want in your life will simply be achievable. Everyone must learn to meet the challenges that life throws at them, and although everyone may struggle, those who stay true to their task and their beliefs will achieve their goals. In To Kill A Mockingbird, the main character Scout grows up in a town full of racists, and as she progresses through her childhood, she struggles to learn and cope with the difficulties around her. She has difficulty understanding and following the injustices plaguing her small town. In The Help, southern belle Skeeter must challenge the uptight, racist society she lives in in order to write the book she needs to launch her career as a journalist. In To Kill A Mockingbird and The Help, the main characters Scout and Skeeter struggle and attempt to challenge the injustices caused by racial prejudice by confronting the problem in their own way. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout struggles to understand the racism in her life. . When little Walter Cunningham decides to drown his meal in syrup, Scout questions him about his actions, but doesn't realize the effect his words have on people. Scout says, "...It's not company, Cal, it's just a Cunningham --", while Calpurnia says, "Shut up! It doesn't matter who they are, anyone puts the feet in your company of this house and don't let me catch you remarking on their ways as if you were so high and mighty.
