Google and YouTubeThe two companies that we decided to research and discuss are Google and YouTube. We would like to look at the recent merger they had and what caused these two companies to make this decision. YouTube is a website that allows users to upload videos of places they have visited, things they have done, tutorials, etc. YouTube has grown significantly since 2005 and now has millions of videos uploaded every day about various things. Google is a popular search engine commonly used to access information from websites around the world. Before YouTube was bought by Google, it was suffering financial difficulties. The company was a victim of its own success, as consumer demand for its service would allow people to upload videos to YouTube, which continued to increase capacity (Kafka, 2010). The company was therefore unable to make a profit. In fact, consumer demand for YouTube remains strong today, as hundreds of hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute and there are now hundreds of YouTube channels to subscribe to (Youtube, n.d. ).
