Michael LawlisProfessor RistrophEnglish 1101April 13, 2014Explain Stupid DecisionPeople in this world have to come to a fork in the road, where people have to make a decision in life. Take buying a candy bar, you're allergic to peanuts but you like caramel. This would mean that the easiest choice would be to choose the Milky Way. Now, with such an easy choice in choosing between candy bars, people still choose a Snickers that contains nuts even if they have an allergy. What could make a person make such a stupid decision? Discovering this answer by observing people can be difficult. But examining the psychological thoughts that lead people to make a stupid decision is easier than you might think. First, let's start by defining a "stupid decision." Breaking it down is simpler than it seems, this could be done using the candy bar analogy. However, with the help of Google by dividing the two words, you get the word "stupid" as "lacking intelligence or common sense" and the word "decision" as "a conclusion or resolution resolved upon consideration." So, by combining these two terms of “stupid decision”, you would get “a resolute conclusion or resolution after thinking lacking intelligence or common sense”. However, this definition is more like a rock in a river with water flowing over it. This can be further defined as the characteristic of a stupid decision. A stupid decision can be defined as the outcome was not what was expected. This happens when people don't do the proper research because being stupid means someone lacks intelligence. Stupidity can be defined as people not doing research, or not processing their research in a way that benefits them in a deci...... middle of paper ...... think enough about the small effects of a decision. Without looking at all levels of a decision, it tends to result in a stupid decision. In conclusion, people are prone to making what we define as a stupid decision, because of the amount of thought they put into it. This could be done by overthinking or underthinking decisions. Stupid decisions are part of human behavior and will never be removed. From teenagers to intelligence advice, advice will be overlooked or taken the wrong way. With the number of decisions people have to choose between during their lives, it's inevitable that they won't have time to research the situation that will ultimately lead them to make a stupid decision. So the best way for people to not make stupid decisions would be to keep a clear mind and avoid any decision making as much as possible..
