Visualize being trapped on an uncharted island with no help except a few boys. In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of boys crash land on a tiny island with no supervision. The younger children are glad the adults are gone, but the older ones realize it's neither fun nor fun. They know that help may not come for a while and that they will need each other to stay alive. In this suspenseful novel, there are foreshadowings of positive events, negative events and people's engagements. This story contained a multitude of predictions of favorable events. The first time this happened was when Ralph found the conch. During the story, the shell symbolizes leadership. So when Ralph finds him, it suggests that he will become the leader of the tribe. This is a positive thing, because Ralph ends up being a phenomenal demagogue who can easily appease the other kids. Another event announced was the child rescue.
