I believe that all children should have the opportunity to be educated in a diverse setting and individualized instruction. Each student should be treated as an individual and use positive interaction with each individual. The importance of education was part of my family culture. My personal experience promoting child development began at Head Start in Las Vegas, Nevada, while I was in school. Implementing what I was learning into my classroom curriculum was a learning experience for me and my students. I learned that the more knowledge I imparted to my students, the easier their learning process became. I believe in children having hands-on experiences. I learned to build relationships with family and communities to understand the dynamics of individualized education. Enculturation is learned at home as well as at school. As an educator, I believe that students need to be exposed to the community and different aspects of jobs to become working adults. The younger a child begins to acquire knowledge, the more he grows exponentially. There are sensitive periods that are critical to a child's learning. I understand the importance of assessing children's situations on an individual basis. In my opinion, when students are struggling, it is more difficult for them to catch up with their peers. I believe that all students can learn, but not all at the same pace. The teacher's environment should be inviting and students encouraged to communicate through spoken words, pictures, artwork, or play. Students come with different experiences and values. The class should offer different teaching styles in order to individualize students as much as possible.
