In our computer-savvy world, most students know very little about other countries and cultures. The arts allow, even require, students to research and learn about other cultures, which can be extremely beneficial. A South African writer, James Currey, explains that “the scope of extramural education was particularly valuable in Africa because the flow of knowledge moved in both directions.
