Literature Review: Adolescence is the transition between childhood and adulthood. The beginning of adolescence is marked by puberty, body growth, hormonal changes and brain development. These changes in the body lead to an increase in nutritional needs and therefore an increase in food intake. If adolescents' food choices are not consistent, various health problems arise (Berk, 2010). Nutritional requirements during adolescence increase compared to any other phase of life and failure to follow an adequate diet during this phase of life could affect growth and delay sexual maturation.
