Nearly one in a hundred children contract Tourette syndrome before the age of 18. Many people wonder how you get Tourette syndrome. People also wonder how Tourette syndrome affects people socially. Tourette's disease is a disorder that is acquired at birth or eventually develops throughout life. This disorder affects people in ways that no one can understand. These children are bullied at school and get into a lot of trouble in public. The question remains: what is Tourette's disorder? This disorder is named after Doctor George Gilles de la Tourette. It was a French neurologist who discovered TS in 1885. TS is a neurodevelopmental disorder that appears during childhood, characterized by multiple motor and vocal tics. (Raz 2) Ts is a disorder that causes someone to say something habitually inappropriate, without meaning to. TS also makes children flinch and shake randomly. TS is a brain disease of unknown origin characterized by involuntary tics. 90% of children with TS also have many other behavioral problems such as ADD, ADHD, LD and OCD.
