  • Essay / AIDS Case Study - 1481

IntroductionMy signature assignment case study will be on the theme of AIDS. My topic will focus on the rise of AIDS and HIV, a global epidemic that must be resolved. The figures for this epidemic have increased considerably in recent years. This epidemic affects a large number of individuals who have been affected and even caused death. Figures indicate that more than 500,000 people have died from the disease in the United States of America (Henry, 2011). The number is almost equal to the population value of a large city. In the United States, up to 1.7 million people are HIV positive. What makes this figure even more frightening is that the majority of individuals do not know that they carry the disease (Henry, 2011). This poses many problems as more people contract the disease because they may have received it from someone who did not even know they carried the disease (Henry, 2011). In this case study, I will go into detail on how we can make ethical decisions regarding this problem, and possibly develop a solution to stop the spread of this epidemic (Perlin, 2002). Case study Patient She shared needles with her drug distributor. The problem is that Patient X is pregnant again and fears that her baby will be born with the disease. Patient X says she did nothing to get the disease, but the results are different. Patient X is now 3 months pregnant and fears for her unborn baby. The problem (problem) HIV also known as human immunodeficiency virus ...... middle of paper ...... ly begin to manufacture the drugs needed by individuals (Perlin, 2002). ReferencesCollins, H.
