  • Essay / The Gospel of Luke - 1035

The book of Luke, found after the books Matthew and Mark, focuses on the ministry of Jesus Christ but it also gives us insight into his birth and growth in the totality. In this chapter we see a historical account of some of the journeys experienced by Christ. It is important to keep in mind that the Bible and all its books serve as historical accounts, but each book is unique in the sense that it incorporates a theological timeline. The Bible is arguably the most important book ever written. It gives the world eyewitness accounts of historical events that helped shape not just one region of the world, but the entire world. It is almost impossible to have a formal societal education and never have read a single part of the Bible or heard a story adapted from the stories of the Bible. The Bible helped create institutions, associations, and much more. As we read the Gospel of Luke, we are truly reading what we are supposed to read as Christians. The main plot of the book of Luke is the life of Jesus Christ, his sacrifice, his ability to overcome death and remain perfect as the son of GOD despite also being human. Jesus is seen as the perfect savior of humans in the book of Luke. Luke not only gives multiple examples of Jesus' power, but he also gives us insight into the Lord's triumph over temptation. Luke also portrays Jesus as a man/GOD who focused very deeply on people and relationships. The book of Luke gives Jesus a loving characteristic, but does not shy away from showing that sometimes Jesus also became angry. Jesus showed great compassion towards the sick, the suffering, the poor and, unambiguously, sinners. Jesus had true love for everyone. Throughout this...... middle of paper ......respect his teachings. His teachings were the sound doctrine and truth of GOD. A Christian should not be someone who claws his way to the top or seeks praise, but rather a humble and patient person. We should not be so eager to be the first to sit at the top, but rather to be welcomed. Patience and humility must be integrated into our lives. A Christian must understand that if he does these things, GOD will bless him. Work cited by Byrne, Brendan. The Hospitality of God: A Reading from the Gospel of Luke.
