    World War II was a fierce battle between Germany, Italy, and Japan. Each of these countries needed to have the upper hand over its adversary and this is how secret codes appeared. We all know that war is about guns and fighting, but what you may not know is that much of World War II was about secret codes. Secret codes were codes sent secretly between countries so that foreigners or other countries could not read or intercept them. Secret codes played an important role in warfare because they provided an advantage to countries that could communicate with each other. The first code that played an important role in the war was the Navajo Code Talkers. Their code consisted of the Navajo language and adding unrelated words. The U.S. military was looking for a code that was almost impossible to crack. Philip Johnston, who was not a Navajo and spoke the language very well, believed that the Navajo language was complex enough to meet U.S. military standards.
