As the age group increased in the study, it was obvious that by the age of ten the children would give all their tokens to the other child, but why? Older children have been trained that by giving away all the tokens, they will one day get something good in return. This happens all the time and we have been taught to do unto others as you would have done unto you; so there is an incentive to treat others kindly and to share. My mother used this phrase on my sister and I when we were kids to get us to share our toys, and it worked. Even though the children in the study were aware of this, they may have given all the tokens to the other person because they considered it the right thing to do. Why do we volunteer for different events? There is some sort of incentive, the weather, being at the event, getting a t-shirt or having the joy of helping others. In the end, you receive a gift of sorts. I do a lot of charity work because it makes me happy; but I also have to do it for my scholarship, I do it to look good on a resume, and I also do it because I'm Catholic and that's what the Church teaches me to be a good person . Which brings us back to the theory: are we born with the understanding of good and evil? It's a question that one day, if I'm good, I will learn in heaven with all
