Essay / Environmentalism Review - 914
Before 1970 and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, there was little concern about what was happening to the environment as a result of manufacturing, industry, energy or other. Walter Rosenbaum brings this concern to life in his book Environmental Politics and Policy. He was a staff member at the EPA for several years, which allows him to write about environmental policy in the United States. He has carried out numerous works in the field of energy and the environment. He has written numerous books throughout his career focused on particular issues in environmental policy, but also does his best to provide a broad overview of the most relevant issues in America. He has continually reviewed the environmental policy and policy to keep them up to date. It proves to be a great teaching tool because it gives a very good overview of politics while focusing on the main issues of today. Rosenbaum divides the book into two parts; in the first half of the book he explains the context and describes the political process, and in the second half he writes specifically about the main issues of today. He begins the first chapter by discussing the creation of the environmental movement dating back to the 1970s with President Richard Nixon. The first Earth Day took place during Nixon's term in office. This is considered the “Big Bang of American environmental policy.” America was attempting to launch a program that had never been attempted or experienced in any other country. Over the past four decades, it appears that presidential candidates have used the environmental platform to manipulate the electorate. They make promises in hopes of gaining support from environmentalists, but in the middle of the document, cost-effective, cost-effective, and cost-saving approaches are created so that regulation can be effective. The American public generally neglects environmental issues or does not understand the goals of federal policy. Rosenbaum attempts to educate the public with his book Environmental Politics and Policy. It discusses in detail the history of the environmental movement and the difficulties linked to the implementation of this policy. Environmentalism is something everyone should be in favor of; it can truly improve the daily lives of all Americans. There is nothing to lose by accepting the regulations; they simply provide a better environment for the public. It is important to understand why these policies are so difficult to implement due to outside influences such as big business, but the public should support these policies..
