Integrating technology in the classroomTechnology is gradually changing our society; there is no doubt about it. If we said ten years ago that students had the ability to have a robot as a teacher, we might laugh or suggest a new Hollywood film. Today, this and many other advances can become a reality. Technology has added many benefits, such as allowing students to easily access new information, providing a portable and affordable solution for textbooks, and is even known to improve grades. Integrating technology into schools is a way to keep pace with society and provide students with endless possibilities. However, many people believe that introducing children to technology is harmful. This can promote laziness, be extremely expensive, and interfere with the student's need to interact with teachers and students. Adapting technology to the classroom requires a lot of time and teacher training. Electronics can often have quirks that hamper lesson plans. Overall, the use of technology in the classroom is a subject of constant debate. First, many are opposed to integrating technology into the classroom. One of the reasons people oppose it is because they believe it promotes laziness. As we well know, many Americans are facing health problems and obesity more than ever. One in three American children are considered overweight (Gavin 1). Some argue that forcing our children to use technology in the classroom is a risk for many health problems. Technology produces a completely dependent society and can often render its users powerless.
