  • Essay / Impact of globalization in China - 1263

The Chinese economy China has experienced major economic growth over the past forty years, but how did it become the economically powerful country it is today? China has gone through many difficulties and complications to get to where it is today. The Chinese government is called the People's Republic of China and operates under a socialist market economy. Chinese culture is very diverse, there are fifty-six minority groups, and many cultures have their own languages. However, Chinese culture is trying to move from traditional Chinese culture to a more modernized version of Chinese culture. This change is causing controversy across the country. China's uniform language is Pȗtōnghuà and the Chinese Communist Party has recently fallen into an economic crisis. Because it is very involved in other countries in the world, the economic crisis that China is going through also affects other countries. The environment has also been negatively affected by globalization. There are many polluting industries, waste, environmentally destructive practices, and air and water pollution. The reason this is happening is because people see China as a fast-growing country and businesses and corporations want to set up there because of the great growth opportunities they see there. Globalization has also had a negative impact on Chinese culture. Because it is so powerful, the country experiences a sense of cultural superiority that did not previously exist. Cultural change began in the 1980s, when a series of reforms were launched. After the launch of these reforms, tensions arose in Chinese culture. China is trying to merge traditional Chinese culture with the modernized version of Chinese culture. The modernization of Chinese culture has two aspects: the overhaul of traditional culture and the absorption of the modernization of other civilizations and their integration into a new culture. It is very difficult for Chinese culture to achieve this due to the massive number of elderly people who make up the population. Another negative impact of globalization in China concerns the first side: it has had a positive impact on China. We believe that globalization is doing great things for China and helping it become an extremely powerful country. On this side, we also believe that the economy is booming and that the number of jobs is increasing considerably. For example, China's economic boom in the 1980s was the result of globalization. The other aspect is that globalization has had a negative impact on China. This camp believes that globalization does not help China develop, but instead harms many aspects of Chinese culture. For example, the modernization of Chinese culture poses many problems and the environment suffers greatly from air pollution caused by globalization. Each person has their own position on globalization and how it has affected China. There is no right or wrong to this position. Globalization has many economic benefits, but it has caused damage to China's culture and environment. Regardless, China has been greatly affected by globalization in many areas.
