In the art community, there is much controversy regarding the distinction between an artist and a designer. Designers are told that they are not artists and that they need to stop thinking that they are artists. When it comes to art and design, specific demographics and viewers interpret each subject's messages in different ways. It is said that the art is elucidated and the design is understood. Artists typically develop a work of art with the goal of providing an emotional point of view, gut feeling, and/or state of mind. When you look at an artist's work, it cannot be limited to the exposition of a single individual thought or meaning. This is a big difference in graphic design. Graphic design usually has a very specific goal and point to make. When it comes to graphic design, there should be no place or space for conflicting messages or multiple meanings. The design audience must immediately understand the design created by the designer. Art connects people differently and in many ways. The only reason it connects to people in different ways is only because it is interpreted differently. The artist's way of thinking is different from that of the average designer. Artists usually try to develop a work of art with the intention of providing an emotional point of view, gut feeling, and/or state of mind. If someone has visible talent in the arts, it usually comes down to natural ability. When dealing with artists, you need to understand their mentality. The artist mentality comes down to the artistic skills and abilities that the artist is born with. Everything the artist creates flows naturally from his abilities with which he was born and not just from his abilities with which he was trained...... middle of paper...... of life. Artists like their viewers to learn from their works or even be inspired by their works. When you look for art in today's society, you notice that it is those that establish the strongest and most unique emotional connection between the audience and the artist who created the magnificent masterpiece seen. When you look at design today, you know that the job of designers is not just to invent something completely new to the viewer, but to communicate with the viewer. The designer wants to communicate to the viewer something that already exists for a specific purpose. The designer is trying to communicate a very specific message or visual to the targeted viewer. The distinction between art and design should be simple. The key things to keep in mind when thinking about art and design are that art is a form of expression and design is a form of communication..
