  • Essay / Health change mission: identify a target behavior...

    1) Identify a target behavior to change: a target behavior requiring change is to recognize the symptoms of illnesses and undergo regular check-ups. These two elements were chosen as a single behavior change because they both go hand in hand in preventing disease. For example, by examining myself physically and determining if anything is wrong based on what I know, I could seriously limit my risk of illness by making an appointment with my doctor. By sharing this information with my doctor, together we can make a diagnosis by evaluating all the signs and symptoms. Practicing these two behaviors is essential for a healthy, disease-free body because even though doctors know how to cure and diagnose diseases, still no one knows their body better than the patient. For example, doctors may diagnose a person with diabetes because of the physical signs they can observe, such as urinating a ketone body; However, because doctors cannot read the patient's mind, it is possible that the diagnosis is incorrect. A possible scenario could be that the patient drank a lot last night and is still experiencing headaches and dehydration. Ketone body urination is a sign that doctors can see through a urine test, but headache is not and therefore is considered a symptom because only a patient can determine that the headache is the truth. That being said, communicating all of this information to the doctor could lead them to accurately diagnose and treat you for alcoholic ketoacidosis instead of diabetes. So if I understand the symptoms of illnesses and then make an appointment to contact my doctor and get examined, I can become as healthy and well as possible while limiting my risk of physical harm. 2) What diseases..... . middle of paper......national well-being varies mainly from week to week through the actions and achievements I have accomplished. Sometimes I have low self-confidence, optimism and self-esteem. Although I can hide these factions in my life pretty well, sometimes I slip and it becomes very visible. The main way I think I can combat this emotional conflict is by finding ways to motivate myself. The best way to do this is to seek professional help when I need it and to spend time with people who make me happy and motivated. By participating in happy and friendly activities with my family, friends and loved ones, I should be able to develop my optimism. By doing so, tackling low self-esteem and low self-confidence will be easier and almost immediate. So, working on these factors will motivate me and help me achieve my overall target behavior of performing regular check-ups and recognizing disease symptoms..
