Public video surveillanceINTRODUCTIONToday's technology has changed the way we live. It has changed the way we perceive the environment, act when we are in public and the way we go about our daily task. Computers have greatly increased our abilities to achieve our goals much more quickly. Human interactions between people have decreased because of this technology. Changes continue daily with a never-ending stream of new ideas and ways of doing things. There seems to be no end to the site. This technology is also changing our moral and ethical values and the way we use them. The “burden of proof” has a new meaning thanks to surveillance cameras. Most of us will agree that surveillance cameras are a good idea. These cameras act as a deterrent to crime and provide security to public buildings and other areas. Law enforcement uses surveillance cameras to track and arrest criminals, as evidence in court, and as protection for themselves and the public. Surveillance cameras can also be used for educational purposes. X-ray cameras have the ability to detect weapons in luggage at our airports and other public buildings. They are now equipped with cameras mounted above red lights to detect red light runners and allow red light violators to be mailed their tickets. an endless list of ways to use cameras. We even have satellites in space with cameras that help us spy on other countries. Most of us will agree that camera surveillance technology is important and necessary to improve most of our lifestyles. This type of survival...... middle of paper ......nce cameras affects everyone. It is for the common good of all that we continue to use it. This has given our nation a sense of security that we have become accustomed to because it has improved our justice system.
