    I first learned about the importance of leadership in tenth grade. Berry College, the largest campus in the United States, was looking for school ambassadors to participate in a seminar known as HOBY. To be chosen, you had to write an essay describing your leadership roles, and at that moment, I thought I didn't have one. I literally didn’t know what it meant to be a leader. I had to think until I remembered going through one of the hardest times of my life. Lack of understanding of the English language became one of my biggest obstacles, and even caused me to repeat a chapter of my life. However, I didn't stop; I continued to fight and help those who might follow in my footsteps. I used my story as an example and hoped it would make a difference in someone else's life. I won the competition and, as a HOBY Ambassador, was put into real-life scenarios that I had no knowledge of. I discovered my strengths and weaknesses as the seminar progressed.
