All white everywhere, the bells hanging in the distance, the weather as perfect as ever; everything is perfect. The moment when time stops when you kiss your partner after saying “yes”. What if this dream could never come true? Not because you never met the right person, but because society didn't accept it. This is exactly what happens to same-sex couples. The fight for same-sex couples to legally marry has been an ongoing debate for many years. The two loudest voices in this battle seem to come from the gay community and the religious community. Gay people are of course fighting to make same-sex marriage legal while the Christian faith is trying to keep it illegal. Some people view same-sex marriage as immoral and sinful, but this ban on marriage violates the inalienable rights that every individual should have, discriminates against a minority, and undermines the true sanctity of marriage that has been established over time. Disney's winning cartoon, Frozen, was deemed pro-gay propaganda according to a Colorado Christian radio show hosted by Reformed Church Pastor Kevin Swanson. Swanson argues that these "themes of gay culture" include the protagonist Elsa's lack of interest in her male suitors and the song Let It Go, which depicts her celebrating her acceptance of her true identity (Pulver, 5) . Many people think this is a bit far-fetched, and as true as it may be, does it really matter? Watching Frozen won't turn five-year-old girls into lesbians. Despite ignorant belief, people do not “turn” into homosexuals. Religion and marriage date back almost to the dawn of time.
