However, some societies have been more prodigious than others when it comes to waste generation. The Mayans of Central America were a village people who gathered monthly and burned their waste in large dumps. Throughout history, human progress has been intrinsically linked to waste management due to its effects on public and environmental health. Waste management has seriously altered human history in various ways, just as it will in the near and distant future.
