The Cell Phone TakeoverCellular devices have evolved and progressed technologically significantly over the past two decades. There are many uses for this technology, ranging from things as simple as wireless phone calls, text messages, and even web browsing. This technology can be considered a system like any other technology because it depends on many other components than just the cell phone itself. Cell phones must all have a provider that transmits the cell phone signal from a tower. Cell phones are made up of similar technology to computers or laptops. Cell phones have a rechargeable battery that allows them to be cordless and portable. Not only did cell phones appear, many earlier technologies and discoveries were made that contributed to the development of cell phones. Radio was one of the first wireless technologies to offer a new type of communication. Essentially, the concept of wireless technology used in a radio was also applied to the concept and development of the cell phone. In 1973, the first cell phone could only make phone calls and was quite large, ten inches long and weighing two and a half pounds (Here and Now 3). And since then, cell phones have evolved, becoming thinner and lighter with each passing year. However, the cell phone was created to keep pace with the growth of society, but the cell phone today has had more impact than expected, especially among teenagers and the current generation who are experiencing the rapid advancement of phones portable.
