Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder of the nervous system. This can cause tumors to form on nerves anywhere in the body at any time. Neurofibromatosis affects all races, ethnic groups, and both sexes equally. NF is one of the most common genetic diseases in the United States. NF has three genetically distinct forms: NF1, NF2 and Schwannomatosis. NF is very unpredictable and there are many manifestations of severity.
