Essay / Town versus Country: The Great Debate - 650
Most people remember the time when they first heard the story of "The Town Mouse and the Town Mouse", but Today, the paradigms once expressed by the revered Aesop may not reflect the advances made by society, which have changed lifestyles in both cities and rural areas. Although there are many supporters on both ends of the spectrum, a clear consensus has never truly been reached. While the city is clearly favorable in terms of ease of access, city living triumphs in terms of cost of living; However, country life cannot offer the diverse experiences that urban life can offer, but at the expense of environmental factors. The availability of resources, whether health care, education, or things as simple as groceries, is certainly much more streamlined in the city than in the countryside. . Rural areas may require a person to travel miles just to reach their nearest neighbor, whereas in a city there is often a surplus of people located within walking distance. Additionally, within a country, health and emergency medical services can be difficult to find if they are scattered throughout the country, whereas hospitals are easily accessible from most areas of a city. Furthermore, education in cities trumps any potential excellence that a homeschooling program can engender. Municipal schools are highly regulated and provide comprehensive education. Then comes the question of everyday products, like gasoline to fuel a car or groceries from the supermarket. In a city, there is usually a convenience store within walking distance and restaurants nearby. By comparison, in the countryside, finding the nearest gas station can take an inordinate amount of time, and dining in a distant restaurant can almost be seen as a route to middle of paper... ..to grow up. The air is free of potential carcinogens and smog, while produce is more likely to be organic and free of harmful pesticides. Country lifestyles are also more in contact with nature and agriculture. This means there are fewer allergies and a safer, cleaner environment. Countryside locations are much safer and there is more privacy in general, although this may be contested. Overall, city lifestyle and country lifestyle have their respective perspectives, each with its own positive and negative factors. While city living involves easier access to essential services and an attractive range of experiences, country living is much cheaper and naturally offers a better environment. Overall, the story of "The City Mouse and the City Mouse" provides only one side of a story that lacks clear consensus..
