There have been many claims made, but it appears that there are six main areas in which the bilingual brain benefits. These are general learning, complex thinking, creativity, mental flexibility and interpersonal communication skills. And let's not forget the effect of delaying dementia and keeping the brain functioning efficiently for longer. The authors note that "although it is difficult to prove direct causation, it is likely that multilingualism produces a particular advantage in using a person's brain capacities in such creative ways as possibleā (Academy of Finland, p.1). . Thus, further and more in-depth study might be needed to be able to directly prove or disprove the actual effects on
