Life leads to many different choicesI have always had a love for science. When I was young, I wanted to be a scientist. Growing up, I wanted to become a doctor and now I am pursuing a teaching degree. Being a scientist would have been the best thing in the world. I used to go out and catch bugs and study them. I was looking at the rocks and trying to figure out what they were made of. I took things apart to figure out how they worked or what they were made of. One year I received a microscope kit for Christmas. I would sit for hours looking at things under a microscope. I looked at everything under a microscope, from insects found in the yard to leaves on trees, even just a small sheet of plain paper. I wanted to become a scientist and work at NASA during this period of my life. As I entered high school, things were changing, but I still loved science. Until my eleventh year, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I was enrolled in a club that offered me a four-year college scholarship if I entered the science field. In eleventh grade, I took a high school anatomy class and loved it. It really made me want to become a doctor. I wanted to become a pediatrician because I always loved children. When I was younger, outside of science, I babysat. I thought pediatric care would be the most wonderful thing at that time in my life. Until this summer, I wanted to become a pediatrician. Many factors influenced why I wanted to become a teacher. One factor was that I wasn't sure I could get into medical school and be able to do the job. So teaching was next on my list. Another factor is that I don't want to stay in college for long. I want to get a master's degree later, but at this point in my life I want to continue. Another factor is that I don't have the money to pursue medicine, so teaching is my next option. My last factor is that during the summer I worked in the Energy Express program and I loved it. During Energy Express, I mentored a group of eight students who read, wrote, and completed art projects..
