    BP is the leading energy company. BP takes its name from the initials of the company's former official name, British Petroleum. The company was trying to persuade everyone that it was an environmentally friendly company that used and developed alternative energy technologies. During its existence, the company paid so many fines for pollution that it became clear that management did not really care about the environment, but only about maximizing profits. It was easier for them to pay fines than to change their management system and demonstrate improvements in workplace safety. After the explosion, BP's stock price and reputation plummeted, and this was one of the many consequences of the disaster. This has certainly occurred due to a lack of strong ethical guidelines. BP - Texas City Oil Refinery Explosion (2005) – Case Summary In one of the largest oil refineries in Texas City, on March 23, 2005, the explosion and fire took place, which It claimed the lives of 15 people, injured more than 170 people and forced thousands of residents living near the plant to stay at home. BP produces diesel, jet fuel and gasoline. In 2005, a huge cloud filled with hydrocarbons ignited around 1:20 p.m. The explosion caused serious damage to the factory and its name. In fact, the company had a few less serious accidents before the explosion, and no engineering issues were resolved by company management. Due to a cost-savings plan, maintenance and safety received less attention than necessary to avert the plant's disaster. Certainly all responsibility for the accident must be placed on London's leaders, aware of safety concerns and budget cuts.
