A few other cases where the British imposed high taxes on raw materials occurred in France as well as India (howstuffworks). The French Revolution almost seemed to mirror the American Revolution in the way the British tried to exert total control over the French and finally had enough. Although the war was not a result of the nonviolent protests that took place during the Salt Marches, it was also influenced by the Boston Tea Party. Furthermore, as a result of the Tea Act, the East India Company had become a monopoly. Later in American history, the Sherman Anti-Trust Act was signed, making the formation of monopolies illegal. Overall, the impact of the Boston Tea Party can be seen not only in the history of the United States, but also in that of the entire world.
