There are a hundred different languages in which to say a simple sentence, but at the same time, there are a hundred different ways to say the same simple sentence in a language. For example, you can refer to your favorite Coca-Cola product using a multitude of terms and phrases, such as, but not limited to, soft drink, soda, soft drink, and even soft drink . People of different dialects across the United States refer to the same thing in different ways, but does our compliance with speaking clearly so others understand mean our language is in decline? No, definitely not. I read and understand Shakespeare as well as I read and understand my friends' text messages, but their lack of eloquence or the mere presence of eloquence in their messages does not mean a deficit in their use of language. We are past the time when speaking eloquently meant you were educated and that was something to display. Extraordinary language is no longer left to the Shakespeares of our time, and simple language is no longer left to the uneducated of our time.
