African American SlaveryAfrican American Trades. African American trade began between the 16th and 19th centuries, or you can call it slavery. The African American slave trade began in Europe and in commercial exchanges. Soon after, when South and North Americans began purchasing slaves, large numbers of Africans were brought to America from the western part of the continent. Those who ordered slaves in volume were the British, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, and Americans. Soon, the Americans would establish outposts near the African coastline, close to certain tribes of tribal leaders. There were approximately 12 million ships, but purchases by African Americans were considerably high. The trades were then called Maafa, African-American scholars called it the great “disaster”, the Swahili called it the African Holocaust or Holocaust slavery. The Civil War and how African Americans joined in. The Civil War began on April 12, 1861 and there was a fire at Fort Sumter and began at 4:30 p.m., but the rebellion began at 6:60 p.m. on Christmas Eve and that was where there were hostiles. The war lasted until 1865. How did this affect African American membership? On January 1, President Abraham Lincoln signed that all African American slaves would be freed in all states and could join the military for the first African time. -Americans could fight in the war. Freedom Riders seek to integrate Southern transportation The Freedom Riders of 1960 would question Southern transportation, buses, trains and even airports.
