It is safe to say that the current education system in the United States does not help create a good workforce, that it does not help students to achieve their goals and he is not doing a good job. in creating good citizens. The current education system is not able to do this because not everyone is about to get a higher education, it is not practical, and a college education and grades are not of good factors/indicators to determine a person's success. Yes, the education system is better here than in other areas, but there are a few things that need to be worked on. Once a person graduates from high school, they are left with a difficult decision: whether or not to go to college. Some families, this is not an option, their child will go no matter what, but many students don't want to go to school and have so much student debt at the end that they will have to pay for deciding that college is not worth it. According to Craig Smith, in his article in Education Digest, "too many families cannot afford to send their children to college, so the student must make the decision to go to college and to collect debts, or simply skip college altogether” (Smith 42). He has a good point. Too many students feel like they have to pay a lot of money, but they don't really get much out of it. Smith states later in his article, “We must stop balancing our state and institutional budgets on the backs of students and their families” (Smith 46). School shouldn't just be about money, rather it should help students get the education they need to be able to succeed in the big world. If a student is so worried about how they are going to pay their school bill, they will not focus on their class work and this...... middle of paper ...... college to start and finally the Grades are not the only indication of whether or not a person is ready to enter the job market. There are several other factors that can be considered when making this final decision.
