Essay / Essay on Gender Inequality - 860
Gender inequality is well reflected in our society today and has been going on for years. Gender has its differences, but along the way, judgment about sex, gender and gender roles has a lot to do with gender inequality. These aspects constitute the social problems leading to discrimination. Gender roles play an important role in whether people are objects or subjective to society. In society, you learn your gender roles and surround yourself with those who shape your life. Gender inequality still exists in society due to government, media, and the workplace. Women have won the right to vote and are fighting for equal rights and access to the political table. I thought maybe women had the right to vote, but gender stereotypes still exist within levels of government. The United States is not the only country where gender inequality still exists. For example; in Afghanistan, women were not allowed to leave their homes aloud unless a male family member accompanied them (Khan, 2012). After the Taliban regime took power, women had a high mortality rate and limited access to doctors and their rights as women were taken away (Khan, 2012). The challenges women face day to day... middle of paper ... they struggle. Research has proven that even though men earn more money than women, they advance to reach higher positions.
