Guatemala is a beautiful land in Central America bordering the North Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Belize. In this article I will focus on Guatemala's geography, anthropological history, cultural behavior, spiritual needs, and current evangelical activity. The main objective of this article is to identify the spiritual needs and how to pray for this nation and its people. Geography • Total area: 108,890 km² (42,042 sq mi) • Land area: 108,430 km² (41,865 sq mi) • Land Boundaries: 1,687 km total; Belize 266 km, El Salvador 203 km, Honduras 256 km, Mexico 962 km• Natural resources: crude oil, nickel, rare woods, fish, chicle• Language: Spanish-speaking Latinos 53.0%, Native Americans 44.7% and others 2, 3%.• Population 14,376,881 (2010) Guatemala is mountainous, with the exception of the southern coastal area and the vast northern plains of the Petén department. These areas vary in climate, elevation and landscape, providing dramatic contrasts between hot, humid tropical lowlands and highland peaks and valleys. Guatemala has 37 volcanoes (including 3 active ones: Pacaya, Santiaguito and Fuego), located in the mountain range and abundant in the highlands. The northern and southern mountains are separated by the Motagua Valley, where the Motagua River and its tributaries flow from the highlands towards the Caribbean, being navigable in its lower end, where it forms the border with Honduras. The main urban centers are the capital, Guatemala City, at 1,500 m above sea level (central highlands), Antigua Guatemala, at 1,530 m above sea level (central highlands), Quetzaltenango, at 2,350 m above sea level. altitude (western highlands) and Puerto Barrios, on the Caribbean coast.
