Career guidance takes into account character development, character skills, life roles, personal and professional background, goals and obstacles. A career counselor not only helps a client with a career plan, but also with a life plan. This article focuses on two categories of career guidance. The first focus is the history of career counseling as a field of study, with emphasis on when and why career counseling began (the 1800s as the study of how head shape of a person is linked to professional choice), who and what influenced it (Sizer, Parsons and Davis) and how it changed (from a vision of individual/community vocation to a vision of individual/global lifespan). The second objective is the application of career counseling by researching the contributions of two leaders, John Holland and Donald Super, to career counseling, their theories and evaluations, as well as the biblical aspects of career counseling and the way each theory of which relates to the Bible.
