When Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie gave her Ted Talk on feminism, she inspired Beyoncé to dedicate a song from her album to the feminist movement. Almost a feminist anthem, “Flawless” allows women to be proud of who they are without depending on a man for a definition of success. During a minute of the song, Chimamanda recites what she said in her Tedx Talk: "We raise girls to see themselves as competitors, not for a job or for achievement... but to attract attention of men. We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings like boys are. Feminist: the person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes” (Hapsis, Emmanuel). Chimamanda redefines feminism in a way that ensures that both sexes are equally represented and have the same rights. This is at the heart of the feminist movement, as it is not only about the empowerment of women but also the representation of men. Although Beyoncé does not hesitate to be called a feminist, many celebrities are afraid of being one, thinking that the connotation is negative (Meltzer, Marisa).
