Personal Statement of Purpose On that fateful day, as I stood in my salmon black and pink graduation gown, I reflected on the skills I was equipped with in just 11 months of master's study and I wanted more. Although these skills allowed me to work as a researcher at the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after graduation, I am looking to improve them and gain more knowledge. My participation in professional conferences, my registration for short courses and my search for mentoring can attest to this. Thus, in my pursuit of continued academic and professional excellence, I find it necessary to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Epidemiology and the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH) will be the environment ideal academic. in which to do it. Being my alma mater, I have witnessed the quality of education provided by exceptional professors. The opportunity to work hand-in-hand with renowned researchers who have made enormous contributions to various research studies and the prospect of establishing a mentoring relationship with them is highly valued. Additionally, efforts to promote innovative research, cross-cultural diversity, and large alumni networks are undeniable benefits that can be achieved at JHSPH. No wonder JHSPH is ranked the best academic institution in public health nationally! Having gained some research experience during my year as a master's student and at the FDA, my desire to engage and conduct innovative and independent research has strengthened. . It is therefore after careful consideration that I am seeking to pursue a doctorate in epidemiology with a concentration in general epidemiology and methodology. As an Optomet trained doctor... middle of article ...... my next research assignment at the FDA focuses on the opioid use epidemic. I believe that my resilience, commitment, ingenuity, academic and professional background, in addition to my in-depth knowledge of scientific principles combined with my statistical ability to analyze data, makes me well suited to the JHSPH epidemiology doctoral program. I am convinced that I would fit very well into your institution, its culture and its beliefs. Keeping in mind Malcolm X's quote as true: “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”; I very much hope that I will be admitted to the prestigious Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, as it will help launch my career to become a seasoned epidemiologist.
