Yes, the drill sergeants back then may not be as hard on us as they were about 30 years ago, but the name-calling are just one of many methods used by drill sergeants. The older generation may have been better physically prepared for the military due to less technology, so most people were outdoors. You may not have had women in the military and most of you may think that they still shouldn't be there because they are not physically strong enough. What makes basic combat training more difficult is that you don't have to work alongside women and do all your training while trusting a wider variety of people, whether they whether women or men, small or large. I'm not going to force you to see the changes like this generation does, but if you've read this you can see that the military has not become weaker, it has evolved to accept everyone and not judge anyone on gender or race and try to accept a wider variety of people. Basic Combat Training is still a program that produces the strongest men and women there is and if it weakened, we would not be the number one military force to be reckoned with; if you think otherwise, try getting in front of the 1% of Americans who had the courage to raise this right.
