  • Essay / Philippines Overpopulation - 904

Approximately 1.5 million people are trapped in a 15 square mile area. It seems impossible. However, the citizens of Manila, Philippines somehow manage to reside wherever possible, no matter how unsafe, unsanitary, and overcrowded they may be. This overcrowding situation not only affects people, but also the areas they inhabit. Their residence has caused all kinds of incidents, from environmental ones, like huge floods and forest fires, to inhumane criminal acts like theft and murder. Which implies that if the citizens of the Philippines do not control the growth of their population, then nature itself will do it for them through these slow massacres. Migration and high fertility rates are the main issues the Philippines should focus on. People in rural areas claim to be deprived of opportunities, forcing them to move to cities filled with methods to gain money, fame, or power. Moreover, until recently, the government has refused to do anything to curb the growth of fertility rates. The government is currently taking action by distributing free contraceptive materials to poor families who, of course, are those who have many more children than others. It is not yet determined whether this new law will bring a positive change, but it seems that the Philippines has decided to take the first step towards becoming a cave country. Environmental Problems Caused by Overcrowded Areas The Philippines is a country of only about 7,100 people. small islands and yet it is considered the 12th most populous country in the world. It's amazing how all the citizens can fit into such a small area. However, Filipinos prove to be very resourceful. In their quest for housing, they eliminate 97% of the count ... middle of paper ... to get great results. DOLE is planning 68 job fairs all over the Philippines, which will definitely benefit a large number of people. If the Philippine government continues to solve the small problems that cause overpopulation, then it might find the solution to overpopulation itself. Overpopulation is one of the many problems facing the Philippines today. Due to corruption, major typhoons and drought, the importance of overpopulation is often overlooked. Filipinos need to wake up and understand that the problem is not with the government or the environment, but with themselves as a whole. They will not solve any of their problems if they continue to be the source of them. Humans are capable of incredible things. More humans can achieve an even higher goal. However, they can also be deadly. And when that happens, overpopulation is destructive.
