In the first chapter, we are greeted by a huge header containing the words "Globalization and international links". The first thought that came to mind was the topic of global economics covered in one of my economics classes. The following pages stayed on the theme of international connections and globalization, but limited themselves to social media and its real impact on us over the last 15 years. The chapter explains how this has changed the way we connect, how we do business, our overall business strategy and how it has impacted diplomacy. On a more microscopic scale, when I think about the impact of social media on the business world, I think we now always have to be conscious of what we say on social media. A person's business can be hindered and helped by the way they behave on social media. I'm also starting to think about how a social media like LinkedIn has made job searching and business in general much easier. The chapter then began to highlight the different global economic systems we have around the world, from market economies, command economies, and mixed economies. This was particularly interesting because it was fun trying to decide which nations would rank where in my head. As for Chapter 2, the main theme was the legal and technological environment. News regarding social media continued to circulate, but eventually it became divided into different ideologies of each nation. This was probably the most interesting part of the two chapters because it refreshed my memory on the three major idealisms, individualism. socialism and collectivism and made me think about how unique the situation we live in here is in the states.
